Reminders of Merchant Sea Captain Isaiah Clark's stewardship still grace the property of our Cape Cod B&B circa 1785: the signature of his 13 year-old son, Jeremiah, scrawled on the back of a door; the giant spruce tree on the front lawn brought home from Norway as a seedling by Captain Clark on his ship, the Electra; guest rooms named after Clark family members; framed historical documents and photographs throughout the building; and his meticulous attention to detail throughout the construction process, including the installation of beautiful, wide-plank hardwood floors.
In 1835, his original saltbox design was expanded into a three-quarter Cape with the addition of a parlor, a kitchen, an upstairs sitting room, and one additional bedroom.
After the Captain's passing, his heirs retained possession of the property until 1909. In 1985, the building was renovated and turned into a New England bed and breakfast. In October 2006, Innkeepers Steve and Philomena purchased the inn.
